There is no shortage of churches in our world today. In the midst of all this diversity, what is so special about Towne South and the fellowship of Christian Churches and Churches of Christ of which this church is a part? This movement of churches, which had its origin in the American frontier days, has as its goal returning the church to the ideals, which emerge from the pages of the New Testament. It is a movement of churches whose basic goal is unity in faith, freedom in opinions, and love in all things.
One of the leaders of this restoration movement, Thomas Campbell, set forth this principle: That the church of Christ upon earth is essentially, intentionally, and constitutionally one. A key passage of Scripture to understand is Ephesians 4:3-6: "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body ...one God and Father of all."
